I prefer griefing that is only a mild irritant. I take credit for starting the Maple Story phenomenon of stripping naked and chasing people silently making the angry face. Since I was the only person over 16 to play that game, my victim's comments were pure joy.

    "what u want"

    "why r u following me"

    "wtf"

    "OMG WTF DO U WANT"

    "STOP STARING AT ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@"

Why don't you make me? Oh right, there's no PvP and you can't.

In vanilla WoW Molten Core, Baron Geddon had an ability that turned you into a "living bomb". After a while this debuff caused you to explode damaging your entire party. Apparently it also affected pets, and stayed on the pets even if pets were dismissed. Natuarally people waited for their pets to get the debuf, dismiss them, and summon them back outside the instance in some heavily populated areas. Bombing the auction house, anyone?

    The Imposter
Find an innocent player, then copy their name almost exactly. Then start teamkilling like crazy using the imposter name. Depending on the game, you can either initiate a vote to kick the innocent player, and even if you can’t oftentimes the others will do so by accident.

Not really a greifing story, but I was running Uldaman with a PUG last night in WoW, anyway the guy who was leading was a frost mage who thought he was a tank, kept aggroing mobs, AOE-ing, then frost shielding (or something like that, can't remember what its called) so all the aggro got dumped onto our preist (who was desperately trying to keep him alive), and he was needing on all the good drops then disenchanting them. Anyway halfway through the instance (and after several wipes) he says: "BRB", gives me the lead, teleports out and goes off for half an hour to turn in quests and repair, anyway while he's away our Warrior tank left and the rest of the group (A hunter, the priest, and I (arcane mage)) start fighting our way through (and actually doing better than when we had all 5), anyway the mage comes back and is upto his normal tricks, we wipe again, so we all start telling him to learn to play and to let the hunter aggro the mobs, anyway he starts cussing us all out, saying that he runs Uldaman all the time with his 68 Resto shaman, and exclaims to the hunter at one point "You're not the God of WOW!!", so I promptly kick him out of the group and advertise on the LFG channel we need more to finish off Ulda. Then he starts advertising on the LFG channel how we're all bad players and no one should play with us, and how "people like us is the reason we're in Iraq", We promptly reply giving our side of the story, and I tell him that I'm from New Zealand so I don't give two shits about the war in Iraq.

The funny thing is though all of the lvl 70 players in the LFG channel start telling the mage to learn how to play, and making fun of him because of his Iraq war comment. Then he gets all Emo, saying he is mentally handicapped and that we shouldn't be so mean to him. At that point I just /ignored him and got on with the instance, we didn't even finish because he had wasted so much of our time that we decided to come back in a couple of days.

In Diablo2, I would make a game called "Free duped SOJZ" that had only 3 slots. These would include me, the soon to be scammed, and my fake satisfied customer.

First, my accomplice and I would wait until someone entered the room. Whenever someone did, we would pretend like we were midway through the duping process. He would go through the motions I had set up, pick up his body and go OMFG SOJZ NO WAY DUDE IT TOTALLY WORKS WOW SWEET, then run to the stash to put away all his new shit. Then the new guy would be like wow... so it works... SOJZ PLZ

Then, the duping process began. I had the whole thing worked out, and kept it consistent so that I could do it to my accomplice and make the customer feel all warm and gooey. The process, IIRC, went:

    1. Drop items into stash, Kill customer
    2. Drop a Super healing potion on the body (to become the duped SoJ or some bullshit)
    3. Run my magical SoJ making program (basically me saying "brb loading program")
    4. Have customer put on his items, and pick up the potion then his body

3.5 Kill customer then loot his shit

This worked because any items on your current character would drop to the ground if you already had a body.

The best part was running out of the room with your friend and divvying up the booty. The whole time you would sit in the room, exchanging items, and laugh at all the hilarious shit over whispers we would get. 9/10 would be "OMG I'm reporting you to blizzard fagggggasdfasdf!!!" and my response would be "ya, let them know how you tried to dupe some sojz, and I'm sure they'll care". The best were the ones where I was going to get my ass kicked IRL because they found my IP.

You'd be surprised how many retards would fall for this shit. I know because thats how I learned about it

So one night I logged into WoW and in Barrens Chat some guy was making Chuck Norris jokes and everyone was laughing like he was the funniest Paladin in the world. I told the guy to shut up because I didn't want to hear his Chuck Norris jokes. He told me "okay, sorry man".

Sucker. I really did want to hear those jokes.

I love kneecapping stupid people with a rifle butt in Red Orchestra when they're trying to sprint for an objective under fire. And asking people with SSPANZERDIVISION LOL in their username about whether or not they are a nazi.
I don't grief for the hell of it, but sometimes it is just too hilarious not to do
